How to add the tawk.to widget to your mobile application
The instructions below are for desktops and laptops only.
You can connect with customers in real time via your mobile app by adding a free widget from tawk.to.
A Mobile SDK is in our development roadmap and we hope to release it soon. However, using the Direct Chat Link, you can still give customers the ability to connect with you in a mobile app — and it’s completely free.
When a visitor clicks on a chat button in an application with an embedded direct chat link, the chat widget will open in a web browser on their phone. From this window, they can start a chat and access your Knowledge Base (if you choose to add the search bar to your widget).
How to get your Direct Chat Link

3. Click Administration in the top menu.

4. Click Chat Widget under Channels in the left menu.

5. Copy the Direct Chat Link.

Recommended ways to add the widget to a mobile app
Once you have your Direct Chat Link, you can connect it to your app in a few different ways. Each method works well—choose the one that best fits your app's design and the experience you want to provide.
WebView (Recommended)
You can use a WebView to display your chat widget directly inside your app. By loading your Direct Chat Link in a WebView, users can chat with you without leaving the app. This offers your visitors a seamless, in-app experience that feels native and connected.

In-app browser
An in-app browser uses the device’s native browser engine to open web pages inside your app. It gives visitors a familiar browsing experience while keeping them within your app environment.

External browser
The chat widget can also be opened in the visitor’s default mobile browser. It’s simple to implement, but it takes visitors outside your app.
Important considerations
Make sure JavaScript is enabled in any WebView or in-app browser. The tawk.to widget requires it to function.
You may need to handle navigation controls (such as back buttons) or display loading indicators, depending on how your app manages web content.
The chat widget is fully responsive, so it will automatically adjust to different screen sizes and devices.
