Why am I not getting notifications?

The instructions below are for desktops and laptops only.

If you’re not seeing desktop notifications from your tawk.to Dashboard, it’s usually due to a settings issue in your browser, the Dashboard, or your computer. This article walks you through the most common causes and fixes so you get alerts when visitors start chats or submit tickets.

Enable desktop notifications in the tawk.to Dashboard

1. Click your Profile image in the lower-left corner of the Dashboard.

2. Turn on Desktop notifications.

3. If you previously turned off specific alerts (such as new visitors or missed chat notices), click Manage Sounds & Notifications and review these settings to ensure nothing essential is disabled.

Tip: You may have to re-log in to your tawk.to Dashboard for the changes to take effect.

Ensure your browser allows tawk.to notifications

Each browser manages site notifications differently. Check your browser’s notification settings and allow https://dashboard.tawk.to.

Google Chrome

  1. Open Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Notifications.

  2. Under Allowed to send notifications, add https://dashboard.tawk.to.

  3. If tawk.to appears under Blocked, switch it to Allow.

See Google’s guide to learn more.

Mozilla Firefox

For macOS:

  1. Go to Firefox > Preferences > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Notifications > Settings.

  2. Ensure dashboard.tawk.to is set to Allow.

For Windows:

  1. Go to Menu > Options > Content > Notifications.

  2. Review the list and ensure tawk.to is allowed.

See Mozilla’s guide to learn more.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Notifications.

  2. Add dashboard.tawk.to to the Allow list.

See Microsoft’s guide to learn more.

Safari

  1. Go to Safari > Preferences > Websites > Notifications.

  2. Look for tawk.to and set it to Allow.

Tip: After updating your browser permissions, refresh the Dashboard or log out and back in to make sure the changes take effect.

Review notification settings on your device

Your operating system can block notifications from your browser or the tawk.to app. Ensure your device allows them.

Windows

  1. Go to Settings > System > Notifications & actions.

  2. Find your browser (or tawk.to app) and ensure notifications are enabled.

See Microsoft’s guide to learn more.

macOS

  1. Go to System Preferences > Notifications.

  2. Choose your browser (or tawk.to) and allow notifications.

See Apple’s guide to learn more.

Check for browser or app issues

If everything looks correct but notifications still don’t appear, try the following:

  • Restart your browser or the tawk.to desktop app.

  • Update your browser to the latest version.

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies, then log in again.

  • Try disabling extensions temporarily if you suspect one may be interfering with notifications.

Additional considerations

  • Test your changes
After adjusting your settings, trigger a test chat or ticket (you can use your own browser in a private window) to confirm that notifications are working.

  • Multiple devices
If you’re logged in on more than one device, some notifications may appear on only one of them depending on your setup.
