Why do I have more visitors than page views?

The Visitors pane in your tawk.to Dashboard shows the number of unique visitor sessions on your site for the current day based on your time zone. One person may complete multiple sessions on the same day and be counted as multiple visitors.

A session starts when a visitor lands on your website, page or chat widget (through the direct chat link) and remains active until the visitor leaves the site or the visitor is inactive for at least 20 minutes. 

You may find you have more visitors than page views if you are directing customers to chat with you via our direct chat link feature.

Every time a visitor uses a direct chat link to join a new conversation, a new session will appear in your visitor statistics even if there were no visits to pages on your website.

You can use a direct chat link to start a conversation anywhere — add it to an email, SMS, your business cards, postcards or even product packaging.
