Setting up direct messages

The instructions below are for desktops and laptops only.

You can start private conversations with any agent in your property using direct messages (DMs). This is a great way to communicate quickly, and recipients get notified of your DM even if they’re offline.


Follow these steps to start a new direct message (DM):

1. Log in to your tawk.to account.


2. Select the correct property.

3. In the left side panel, click the 3 dots next to Direct Messages, and select New direct message.

4. Select an agent from the list or use the search bar if needed.

5. A new chat window opens, and the recipient gets a notification, even if they’re offline.

6. To return to the conversation later, click the thread in your sidebar.

Note:

If an agent is removed from a property, they will still appear in existing direct messages or group chats. To remove them from the conversation, they’ll need to leave the chat, or you can start a new chat without them.
