How to edit your tawk.to account settings

The instructions below are for desktops and laptops only.

This guide shows how to change your personal account settings (name, email, title, profile image), notification preferences, password, and multi-factor authentication.

Steps to edit your account settings

1. Log in to your tawk.to account.


2. Click your profile image in the lower left corner of the dashboard.

3. Click Edit Profile to open Account Settings.

4. On the Account Settings page, you can edit your Profile, Notifications, and Settings (which includes your password and multi-factor authentication). Click Save when you’re done changing the respective fields.

Profile

On the Profile tab, you can edit:


  • Name — this is the default name customers see in chat. If you prefer not to use your real name, create an alias. Learn more about aliases with this guide: Creating and managing aliases

  • Email — your tawk.to login email and where tawk.to sends mail notifications.

  • Title — appears in chat conversations (for example: “Support Agent”).

  • Profile image — change your avatar or upload a picture. Make sure the image follows any size guidelines in the profile-image guide. Learn more about your profile image with this guide: How to change your profile image

Notifications

On the Notifications tab, you can enable or disable the Weekly Roundup email. Changes take effect immediately. Learn more about the Weekly Roundup with this guide: Understanding the weekly roundup email

Settings

Open the Settings tab to manage your password and multi-factor authentication:


  • Change password — enter your current password and a new password, then click Save. After changing your password, you will be logged out and must sign in again with your new password.

  • Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) — click Activate. You’ll receive an email with instructions to complete the setup. Follow the email steps to finish activation. Learn more here: How to enable multi-factor authentication on tawk.to

Delete your account (if needed)

If you need to remove your account permanently, click the Settings tab and scroll to Delete Account.


Note: Account deletion is irreversible — it permanently removes your data, chat history, agent profiles, and connected properties. Back up any data and cancel subscriptions before you delete an account.

Additional considerations

  • Aliases
    If you want to appear under a different name or persona in chats, create an alias rather than changing your main account name. tawk.to supports aliases so you can reply anonymously or as different departments.

  • Immediate effect
    Most account changes (name, image, email, notifications) take effect immediately for your account and in chats. Password changes force a logout and require re-login with the new password.

  • Subscriptions and data backup
    If you have paid add-ons or subscriptions, cancel or manage them before deleting your account. Also, download any chat logs or exports you need — deletion is permanent.
