Adding a tawk.to widget to Shopify
The instructions below are for desktops and laptops only.
You can easily add the tawk.to chat widget to your Shopify store to start chatting with visitors in real-time, answer questions, and boost conversions.
Note: The team member who adds the tawk.to widget on Shopify will not be able to purchase any add-ons. This restriction is due to limitations imposed by Shopify.
Adding the widget to Shopify

2. Select tawk.to Live Chat, and click Install.

3. Click Install.

4. You’ll be prompted to log in with your tawk.to account.

5. After logging in with your tawk.to account, select the property and widget to connect to Shopify.


6. After a successful installation, you should see tawk.to Live Chat under Apps on your Shopify dashboard.

7. Enable the tawk.to app in your theme. Switch the app on in the App Embeds left panel and click Save.

8. The widget should now appear on your Shopify site.

Managing Shopify orders from your tawk.to Dashboard

With the Shopify tab, you can:
View customer order details
Confirm order and delivery status
Process refunds and manage cancellations
Access customer information linked to their Shopify account
Note: This feature only appears if you install tawk.to using the official Shopify app.
You can click Configure to adjust your settings:


Additional considerations
The chat widget works across all devices.
If you change your Shopify theme, you may need to re-add the widget code.
Installing the widget manually does not enable the Shopify tab in the Dashboard. You’ll need to install the official app following the steps above.
