Restricting your widget by platform, domain or country
The instructions below are for desktops and laptops only.
You can control where your tawk.to chat widget appears by limiting its visibility based on platform, website domain, or the visitor’s country. This allows you to manage who sees the widget and tailor your support experience to specific audiences.
Whether you want the widget to appear only on mobile devices, restrict it to a certain website, or limit it to visitors from specific regions, you can make those adjustments directly in your tawk.to Dashboard.
How to access widget restrictions settings

3. Click Administration on the top menu.

4. Click Chat Widget under Channels in the left menu.

5. Scroll down to Availability Restriction. Here, you can set:
- Domain Restrictions- Country Restrictions
- Platform Restrictions
Click Configure to adjust the respective restriction settings.

Your chat widget updates automatically after saving. No need to update the widget code in your page’s HTML.
Domain Restrictions

You can choose to SHOW or HIDE the widget on specific domains. Then, enter the domain(s) accordingly. Click + Add Another to add more domains.
Note: Do not include http:// or https:// in the domain. Use plain domain names like example.com or store.example.com.

This setting is useful if you've installed the widget on multiple sites but only want it active on selected ones.
Country Restrictions

You can limit the widget’s visibility based on the visitor’s geographical location. To show or hide the widget for specific countries, click Configure. Then, toggle the switch to enable Country Restriction.

You can choose to show or hide the widget from visitors from specific countries. Use the dropdown menu to search for and select countries.

Country detection is based on the visitor’s IP address and may not always be 100% accurate due to VPN usage or geolocation limitations.

Helpful ways to apply widget restrictions
Here are some examples of how you can use widget restrictions to choose where your widget appears and improve your visitors’ support experience:
Support specific regions
Show the widget only in countries where your team is available to respond.
Control visibility across websites
Limit the widget to selected domains when using tawk.to on multiple sites.
Show the widget on mobile only
Display the widget only on mobile devices, for example, in a mobile app or a site designed for mobile users.
Important considerations
Widget restrictions work at the property level. If you're managing multiple properties, you'll need to apply settings individually for each one.
If the widget isn’t showing up, check your restriction settings to ensure they’re not blocking visibility.
Restrictions may take a few minutes to take effect after changes are saved.
