Getting notified when your AI agent joins a chat

The instructions below are for desktops and laptops only.

When sound notifications are enabled, your team will know exactly when an AI agent joins a chat, helping your team stay informed so they can monitor conversations and take over when needed.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to enable and customize sound notifications for AI agent chat activity.

Turn on notifications for AI agent chats

1. Log in to your tawk.to account. Then, select the correct property.

2. Click Automations on the left navigation bar.

3. Click Agents in the left submenu.

4. Select your AI agent.

5. Click Settings on the left menu. Under Behaviour, turn on Always notify human agents of new chats.

Once enabled, your team will hear a sound notification whenever the AI agent joins a conversation. You can customize the sound settings in the following section.

Customize your notification settings

1. Click your profile image in the lower left corner of the dashboard. Then, click Manage Sounds & Notifications.

2. On the Manage Sounds & Notifications pop-up, switch the Sound toggle on.

Then, under New Chat, adjust the following settings:

- Sound: Choose the notification tone.
- Repeat: Set how many times the sound plays.
- Volume: Adjust the sound level.

3. Click Save.

Note: The New Chat sound notification is also used when your AI agent joins a chat.

How it works

When a visitor starts a chat:
  • The AI agent joins the conversation and your team gets notified.
  • Human agents can join or take over the chat at any time.

Delay when the AI agent joins chats (optional)

To give your team time to respond before the AI agent steps in:

1. In your AI agent’s Settings tab, turn on Delay Apollo live chat answering for.

2. Set your preferred delay time.

When this setting is enabled:
  • Your team has time to respond first.
  • If no one replies within the delay period, the AI agent joins automatically.
  • Your team gets notified when the AI agent joins the chat.
