Stop the “Initialize sound” message from appearing in the Dashboard
The instructions below are for desktops and laptops only.

Steps to allow sounds from your dashboard

3. Click Site settings (or a similar option) to open your browser’s permission menu.

4. Find the setting for Sound/Autoplay/Media and change it to Allow (or “Allow audio and video” in some browsers). The label can differ by browser — look for “Sound” or “Autoplay”.

5. Reload the dashboard. The “Initialize sound” prompt should stop appearing.
Tip: If you use multiple browsers, repeat these steps in each browser you use for the dashboard.
Additional considerations
Why this happens
Most modern browsers block sound or media from playing automatically until you give permission. This helps prevent unwanted audio from starting in the background. Once you allow sound for the tawk.to Dashboard, you won’t need to initialize audio every time you sign in.
Browser differences
Different browsers use slightly different terms for the same setting. In Chrome and Edge, you’ll usually see Sound. In Firefox or Safari, it might appear as Autoplay or Media autoplay. If you can’t find a Sound option, look for Autoplay or media settings in the same permissions section.
Private or incognito windows
Settings you apply in private or incognito mode aren’t saved for future sessions. If you’re using the Dashboard in a private window, you’ll need to allow sound again each time you open it.
