Adding a tawk.to widget to your GoDaddy website

Adding the tawk.to widget to a GoDaddy website lets you monitor site visitors in real time and offer support through the chat, knowledge base, ticketing center, and CRM.
There are a couple of options for adding live chat to your site with tawk.to:
- Add the direct chat link to a button or anchor text
- Add the widget using the Widget Code
Add a direct chat link to a button
To add the direct chat link to a button or anchor text, make your way to ⚙️Administration ➞ Channels ➞ Chat Widget.

Then copy the URL under Direct Chat Link.

Log in to your GoDaddy account and open the Website Builder for your site.
Then, add or select the button element you want to use to start a chat.
Click the button in the right menu to edit.

Then, paste the Direct Chat Link in the Website URL field.
When a visitor clicks the button in the published website, the widget will open in a new browser tab.

Adding the widget with the Widget Code
You can also add the widget to a GoDaddy site by adding the widget code to a custom HTML section of a page.
First, you’ll need to find your widget code.
From the dashboard, make your way to ⚙️Administration ➞ Channels ➞ Chat Widget.
Then, copy the </> Widget Code to your clipboard.

Widget scrolling
The widget is designed to float when a visitor scrolls on a page. However, this function is unavailable on GoDaddy sites. To meet this challenge, we recommend placing the widget embed code above the fold so visitors are aware it's there.
To create a space for your widget, you’ll need to add a new section to your GoDaddy site.
In the Website Builder, hover over the plus (+) sign and click to create a new section.

Enter HTML in the search bar above the Add Section menu that opens on the right.

Then, click the Add button to create your section.

In the Custom Code field, enter your widget code.

Widget scaling
If the open widget doesn't fit within the section, you'll need to change the section size to fit the widget or change the widget size to fit the section.
Scroll down past Custom Code and enter a value for the Forced Height to allow enough space for the widget to fully open.
Then, click the Done button below the tab menu to update your changes.

Changing the Widget Dimensions
If you'd prefer to change the size of the widget itself rather than the section that contains it, you can do that in the tawk.to dashboard.
From the dashboard, make your way to ⚙️Administration ➞ Channels ➞ Chat Widget.
Under Widget Appearance, click Advanced to open a new window.

Changing the Width and Height here will adjust the size of the widget on your GoDaddy Site.
Changing to 320 x 320 will fit a medium section size. However, depending on where the widget is placed, the visitor will need to scroll to view the widget.

Maximizing the widget
Adding the widget via the embed code may create any empty space in the rest of the section. One way to fill more of the space is to keep the widget open upon load using our JavaScript API.
