Connecting multiple Telegram bots to tawk.to

The instructions below are for desktops and laptops only.

You can connect multiple Telegram bots to a single tawk.to property. Each bot appears as its own inbox in your Dashboard, so you can manage conversations from different bots — such as Support, Sales, or Orders — in one place without mixing messages.

Before you start

You’ll need:
  • Admin access to the tawk.to property you want to connect
  • A Telegram bot token for each bot you want to connect (generated via @BotFather)

If you haven’t connected your first Telegram bot yet, see this guide:

Connect an additional Telegram bot

Follow these steps for each new bot you want to add:

1. Log in to your tawk.to account.

2. Select the correct property.

3. Click Administration on the left navigation bar.

4. Click Integrations in the left submenu.

5. On the Integrations page, click the Messaging tab, and then select Telegram.

6. Go to the Settings tab. Then, click + Connect.

7. In the pop-up window, enter:

- Telegram Token — Paste the token for the new bot.
- Inbox Name — Choose how this bot will appear in your Inbox (for example, Sales Bot).

8. Click Connect.

Once connected, the new bot will:
  • Appear in the connections list under the Telegram Settings tab
  • Show as a separate inbox in your Dashboard

Repeat the above steps for each additional Telegram bot you want to connect.

Manage your connected Telegram bots

All connected bots are listed under the Settings tab of the Telegram integration page.
From here, you can:
  • Search for a bot by Inbox Name or Bot Username
  • View its status (Connected, Disconnected, or Connecting)
  • Edit the Inbox Name
  • Disconnect or Reconnect a bot
  • Rotate a revoked token using Reconnect. If the old token no longer works, you’ll be prompted to enter the new token — you cannot update it directly in the Edit inbox screen.

Each bot is identified by:
  • Its Inbox Name (the name you assign in tawk.to)
  • Its Bot Username (for example, @acme_support_bot)

This makes it easy to manage multiple bots without confusion.

How multiple Telegram inboxes work

When you connect multiple Telegram bots:
  • Each bot creates a separate inbox.
  • Conversations from different bots stay separate.
  • You can assign agents, set priorities, and add tags individually for each inbox.

Important considerations

  • Each Telegram bot token can be connected to only one tawk.to property at a time. Each Telegram bot can have only one webhook URL.

  • Each bot appears as its own inbox. Conversations do not merge across bots.

  • There is no limit to the number of Telegram bots you can connect to a single property.

  • Use the search bar on the Settings page to quickly find a specific bot when managing many connections.

  • When connecting a Telegram bot, only new messages received after the connection will appear in tawk.to. Messages sent before the connection are not synced.
