AI Assist Plans and Subscriptions
The tawk.to AI Assist add-on brings the power of AI to your tawk.to dashboard. Whilst you can use the AI Assist free of charge, there are limits to what you can do. In this article, we will explain the different plans and billing for this add-on.
Please see below for a list of terms used in the AI Assist add-on and their meaning.
Messages | Every time the bot generates a response |
Overage | For customers on the Enterprise plan. If you exceed 20,000 messages, the cost per message ( which needs to be paid in advance ) is .02c |
Data Characters | Refers to the individual units of data that AI systems can process. These characters can be letters, numbers, symbols, or any other textual elements that contribute to the data’s overall content. |
Human Takeover | The ability for AI to transfer the conversation to a human when requested or depending on certain events pre-determined by the business |
Support | The level of support offered by tawk.to |
Assisted Set up | Requesting tawk.to support assisted set-up |

Usage and Limitations
The usage limit is determined by the number of messages the AI delivers. This includes AI Assist, AI Commands, and Smart Reply. We do not include messages that are sent in the Preview section of your AI Assist Add-on.
You can always check the number of messages you have left and when your messages will reset at the top of the AI Assist add-on area.

What happens if I use all the messages allowed on my plan?
If you run out of messages on your plan, the AI Assist will simply stop responding until the plan resets. The reset date is shown at the top of the AI Assist add-on area. You can upgrade at any time to the next tier.
Once you have upgraded, the subscription date will be reset and the total number of new available messages will be shown. The only way to continue using the AI Assist add-on once you have used all the messages is to upgrade to the next plan ( or purchase a number of messages as overages - Enterprise plan ).
Upgrading your AI Assist Plan
If you have multiple properties, check to make sure you're viewing the correct one. Hover over the current property name in the upper-left menu to select a new property from the list.
Make your way to Add-ons → AI Assist → Upgrade

Select the plan you would like to upgrade to and enter your payment details on the right.
When selecting a plan, you have the option to pay yearly or monthly. Secure our yearly plan and benefit with two free months. You can remain on the same plan, but switch to a yearly ( or monthly ) billing cycle by toggling the option next to the heading AI Assist
Your subscription is paid in advance. If you decide to change your plan in the middle of the billing cycle, this change will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. For example, if you’re halfway through your monthly subscription and would like to switch to an annual subscription, the change won’t take effect until the end of this month’s period.

Overage and Enterprise Plan
Should you exceed 20,000 messages, the Enterprise Plan includes the option to purchase additional messages. We charge $100 USD for a block of 5,000 messages. Overage messages never expire and can exist on your account, month after month if unused. For example, a block of 50,000 messages could last approximately 10 months if a user averages 25,000 messages per month.
Downgrading your AI Assist Plan
You can downgrade your plan at any time. The downgrade will take effect at the conclusion of your current subscription period ( yearly or monthly ).
If you have multiple properties, check to make sure you're viewing the correct one.
Hover over the current property name in the upper-left menu to select a new property from the list.
Then, make your way to ⚙️Administration ➞ Billing ➞ Purchases and Invoices.
If you have multiple subscriptions, select the add-on you’d like to change.
Once you have selected the add-on, click Modify to the right of the Payment method.

Select the plan you would like to downgrade to and enter your payment details on the right.
When selecting a plan, you have the option to pay yearly or monthly. Secure our yearly plan and benefit with two free months.

That’s it - your subscription plan has now changed.
