Disconnecting an email inbox from tawk.to

Before you disconnect
- New mail stops arriving. Once disconnected, messages sent to that address no longer reach tawk.to. They stay in the mailbox at your provider, so nothing is lost, you'll see them when you reconnect.
- You cannot reply from that address. Existing conversations can no longer be replied to while the inbox is disconnected.
- Your conversations stay. Disconnecting does not delete anything. Past conversations remain in your Inbox, and reconnecting brings the mailbox back in sync.
- Tell your team. If the inbox is shared, other members will notice it stops working.
- Check for a pending reply. A reply still inside its undo window may not send if the connection is removed.
Disconnect an inbox
- Click Administration on the left navigation bar.
- Click Integration, then Other Email Provider under Messaging
- Find the inbox you want to remove.
- Choose Disconnect.
The inbox stops sending and receiving. Its entry remains in your email channel list, showing as disconnected, with a Reconnect action available.
Reconnect later
To start using the address again, choose Reconnect on that inbox and re-enter your password, or app password. See Troubleshooting email connection and delivery issues.
Your conversation history, inbox name, visibility and ownership are all preserved, and once the connection is restored the mailbox syncs so mail that arrived while it was disconnected comes through.
Note: disconnecting deliberately and a provider dropping the connection leave the inbox in a similar state, and both are resolved with Reconnect.

Additional considerations
- Disconnecting is not the same as changing the address If your goal is to move to a different address, connect the new one as its own inbox, an inbox's address cannot be edited. See Connecting multiple email inboxes.
- Free the address for another connection An address can only be connected once. If you want to connect it to a different property or in a different way, disconnect it first.
- Disconnecting does not touch your mailbox Nothing is changed or deleted at your email provider. Mail continues to arrive in the mailbox itself as normal.
